Food Labelling

Food Label Compliance Checks

Our experts carry out food label checks that reduce the risk of costly product recalls, Trading Standards action and allergic incidents from mislabelling.

Legal duty

Food label checks and the law

Food business operators need to label pre-packaged foods and check that any food label they apply meets UK food labelling legislation.

Incorrectly labelled foods can lead to legal action by Trading Standards, costly recalls and claims from customers who suffered allergic reactions to mislabelled foods.

Our service

About our food label checks

Our food label experts examine whether your labels comply with existing and planned regulations, and issue a compliance report to support due diligence. If there are mistakes or omissions we advise what is required — and once changes are made we re-check at no extra cost.

We work with importers, manufacturers and retailers and also run food labelling training courses.

  3. 03 QUID percentage indication where required
  4. 04 Durability date — use by / best before
  5. 05 Special storage or use conditions
  6. 06 Name and address of manufacturer, packer or seller
  7. 07 Place of origin where omission could mislead
  8. 08 Instructions for use where necessary
  9. 09 Nutritional content — energy, fat, saturates, carbs, sugars, protein, salt
